New Adventures

These last couple of months have been so much fun!  I finally decided to follow my dreams and start an online boutique!  I have always talked about opening a boutique, but the hard part was actually doing it.  Venturing into the unknown is scary.  What if I'm a failure?  What if I don't know what I'm doing?  What if I just wasted my money? Starting a new business is definitely a risk, but it was a risk I was willing to take.

So, I am going to tell you a little bit about the very curvy path I took to get here!

My name is Taylor and I am 25 years old.  I currently reside in McPherson, KS (yes, you read that correctly, Kansas!  We do have civilization here in this fly over state).  I have always loved fashion, but I didn't think I could make a career out of it so I took a different path in college.

I have a business degree from Kansas State University and immediately after graduating from KSU, I started a job working in Corporate America.  I really enjoyed my job, I was working in the marketing department for a private jet company, traveling the US for work, and occasionally flying in private jets.  I had nothing to complain about.  One downfall of working for Corporate America is that there is never any job security.  Unfortunately, I was laid off with 500 other employees a year after I started.  At the time, I did not see any good that could come from this situation.  I will be honest, it sucked. Not to mention this was 4 days after I married my best friend.  Yes, it was horrible, and I spent a week feeling sorry for myself.  However, laying on a couch feeling sorry for myself wasn't going to get me anywhere.  I had to move on.

I had interview after interview looking for jobs.  I accepted one, but I was miserable.  I don't know about you, but 8-5 at a desk all day is extremely hard for me to endure.  I am going to fast forward a couple of months so that I don't bore you!  I am now teaching business at McPherson High School and I love it!  Every day is different and my students keep me on my toes.  However, I still had the idea of starting a boutique in the back of my mind.  January 1, 2018, I told my husband that my new year’s resolution and my 25th birthday wish was to start a boutique.  A month later, Black Denim was up and running!  Sure, I don't have a lot of inventory yet or a large customer base, but I absolutely LOVE every aspect of running my boutique.

So here is to new adventures!

xoxo Taylor
